LOS ANGELES 1984: The Los Angeles Games were the first to be staged without government financing. The organisers depended heavily on existing facilities and corporate sponsors. Although criticised at the time, the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games became the model for future Games, particularly after it was revealed that they had produced a profit of US$ 223 million.

Why partner with London 2012?

March 14th 2007 was a milestone in the history of Lloyds TSB.  Lloyds TSB became the first National Partner of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the largest event the UK has ever staged.

As a truly British company serving customers across the UK, we wanted to demonstrate our commitment to Britain, and our confidence that 2012 will be the best Games ever.

The whole nation is now on an extraordinary journey to 2012. The Games are about much more than 16 days of competition.  They’re about the four years we have to prepare our country, our people and our athletes, and the legacy we leave for our young people when the 2012 Games are over.

The Games are more than about winning and losing: they’re about health, hopes and dreams, friendship, fair play and respect.   These values support Lloyds TSB’s mission to help customers on their journey, to make it easy for them to deal with us and set ourselves apart through our expertise and our empathy.

The 2012 Games will leave a permanent impression on the psyche of Britain and initiate lasting change for young people, businesses and our communities, and Lloyds TSB will be at the heart of this.
