Local Heroes frequently asked questions

What is Lloyds TSB Local Heroes all about?
It’s all about recognising and supporting more of Britain’s young sporting hopefuls when they need it the most, helping them keep their dreams alive, and inspiring our staff and customers on our journey to London 2012 and beyond.

Why is Lloyds TSB supporting young athletes?
As a proudly British company and the first Official Partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with branches on every High St across the UK and more than 60,000 staff, we’re well placed locally to support these young athletes at a stage in their career when they need the most help and make a real difference.  And with over 16 million customers, Lloyds TSB is uniquely positioned to share the inspiring journeys of these heroes and connect them with people in their communities across Britain.

Will any of our Local Heroes take part in London 2012?
We hope so!  Some are sure to, however the development path of a sports person is not always predictable and the objective of Local Heroes is to help these talented young people on their journeys, however far they go.

What’s Lloyds TSB’s vision for Local Heroes?
Our vision is for Lloyds TSB’s Local Heroes to help us inspire and support young people, communities and businesses across Britain on their journey to London 2012 and beyond.

How do athletes benefit?
As a minimum, athletes will receive a grant towards essential equipment, travel and training costs; including accommodation, insurance and so on.

What else is Lloyds TSB doing to support these athletes?
Supporting and encouraging these athletes is every bit as important as providing funding, and we all have a role to play. As well as offering our time and moral support during training or at local events, Lloyds TSB will be providing their financial expertise to these athletes and their families on their journey to London 2012 and beyond.
