On the first day of Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week, 25 June 2012, we will be celebrating London 2012 World Sport Day, part of the Get Set goes global programme.
It’s a chance for schools to celebrate the world’s arrival in the UK for the greatest festivals of sport – the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Schools will be invited to take part in an opening celebration which will be streamed to classrooms and assembly halls across the UK, and around the world. They can also access a wide range of resources to help them make the most of the opportunity.
Encourage your local school to register for National School Sport Week 2012 now at www.schoolsportweek.org
National School Sport Week
National School Sport Week, delivered in partnership with Youth Sport Trust, will continue to encourage pupils to take part in more sport, try new Olympic and Paralympic Sports and live the Values of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 2011, over 4 million young people took part in Britain’s biggest celebration of school sport.
Olympic Torch Relay
As the education partner of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay, Lloyds TSB are offering some unique opportunities for schools and pupils to be a part of the Olympic Torch Relay celebrations.
Through our Flame Followers programme , we’re giving schools resources to help them teach pupils about the Relay, and create their own celebrations as it passes through your community.
All schools registered for our schools programme will have the chance to be a part of the action as the Flame travels for 70 days on its historic journey through the UK, before arriving at the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games on 27 July.
London 2012 World Sport Day
In celebration of the world’s most talented athletes coming to the UK in 2012 for the world’s largest festivals of sport – the Olympic and Paralympic Games - we’re helping schools welcome the world to the UK on the opening day of National School Sport Week on 25 June 2012.
Through London 2012 World Sport Day, which is part of National School Sport Week and the London 2012 Get Set Education Programme, young people can learn about the teams, athletes and culture of the 205 competing nations and demonstrate how London 2012 has created friendships between young people around the world.
